One should have the option of "Save (including state of view)". That is, whatever view you are in (detail, 3d, definition), it would save whatever information is necesary such that after closing and reopening the terrain, you are looking at whatever you were prior to closing the terrain. For example, in 3d view, the navigation point and the angle and location of the camera. Also, any control parameters, such as for heightmap editing. That way one can quit working for awhile and come back and continue without having to spend all the time to get to where you were when you quit. It would save a great deal of time. There would be a corresponding "Open (where I was)" so that the normal "Open" would work as it does now.

I've seen an editor that allowed you to attach views to comments which is quite handy for a "look, here's what I'm talking about".

Also, as a super-fluffy feature, being able to "scribble" in 2d over top of this fixed/saved view using a big red marker can come in handy. "Move this over here." "This needs to be bigger." type comments.

Very handy for approving/managing the work of others.

Well, you can add comment placements to the terrain.

Yep, and that's handy. But I'm talking about "saving" a view (camera position and orientation basically) along with the comment so that whoever's reading the comment can see exactly what someone else is referring to (if it applies).

OK, I'll put it on my todo list.
