I am using SHIVA 3D game engine and it can only import TIFF and here is some other requirements.

There are some things to know :
- your height map size must have a power-of-two width and height (256x256, 512x128...)
- your height map data must be in 16 bits grayscale TIFF, IBM PC format, and not compressed.
- check the terrain height scale (at creation time), usually you have to set it very low

Thanks

Well, it is possible to export into TIF using the bitmap exporter plugin. However, it only uses 8 bit per pixel, which might not be sufficient for you.
Is it also possible to import RAW heightmap data?

Just read through the documentation of the library I use to write bitmap formats. Maybe there is a way of saving 16 bit tifs. I'll give it a try.

TIFF and 16bit bitmap export will be possible with the next release.
Until then, an updated exporter plugin with these capabilities can be found here:
