I exported the demoterrain to a heightmap 1024x1024x8. But why the exported lightmap size is 1008x1008x24 ? tried with no border/2 border/4 border. Should the light map be 1024x1024x24? or is 1024x1024x8 better since it's a grayscale image.

Thanks

Hi.

Please check the "Power of 2" option during export.

Wether 24 bit or 8 bit is the best choice depends on your settings and your engine:

1. You can use colored light sources, which will result in a lightmap that is not simply a gray scale image.
2. Usually, if the lightmap is used as separate texture and not put into a texture channel of another texture, the texture will most likely be represented as 24/32 bit texture on the graphics card. So on that aspect you won't save any memory. Only on disk you would save memory.
