Hi there,

I was wondering if it is possible to import an entire sector's texturemap from a 2048by2048 px texturemap. As i'm satellite imagery for the texture & heights, that would be terribly convenient. I could cut up my textures & assign them in manually, but i'd rather not

cheers

Hello and welcome,

unfortunately, currently there is no import filter for texture maps available. The reason for this is that the program internally stores the texture information as assignments of detail textures per terrain vertex and not as texture map.

However, the texture edit and storage mode is currently being redesigned. And with the next version it might be possible to import texture maps this way. But I still need a couple of weeks for the next release.

thanks Ralf, now i know not to search for it!

i guess allowing ground texture sizes up to 2048 is out of the question? As that would too solve my problem :)

cheers

Currently a texture can be spread over a maximum of 32 heightmap elements only. From a technology point of view, there is no reason why it should not be possible to spread a texture over the whole sector of 1024 heightmap elements. So I can simply allow for such a setting in the program for the next release.

you'll have to save the setting as a 16bit integer value ...

Any news on this?

I also wondered if i could edit the textures in the SECTORS\TEXTUREMAP folder? They seem to be regenerated when i reopen a sector, but it would be nice if i could just put my own tiles here & then refresh the view. Any possibilities there?

cheers
