When placing a DAE exported from 3ds max 2009 in PnPTC, the pivot point of the object does not match up with the pivot point within 3ds max.

We're wondering what determines the pivot point in PnPTC.

The pivot in PnPTC is the origin (0/0/0) coordinate of the mesh. This should usually be the pivot of the mesh in 3dsmax. However, it depends on how the exporter erports the vertices. If I remember right, there is a possibility to select between world and object coordinates during export. Maybe try to ensure that only the object is exported and not the whole scene.

Thanks, we'll take a look at that and see if it's the problem.
