Post subject:  07. Poly reducion with blender

Blender contains a option to
reduce the poly count of a mesh since version 2.4.

This can be a handy function when your
target engine dosnt support a heightmap format and you're focused
on smaller mesh files for your landscape.

1.
Make sure to import a terrain patch file into blender.
Please read following tutorial how to export .obj files
from PnP TerrainCreator before doing this.

This is how a imported terrain patch file looks like in blender.

3.
Switch to edit mode and click on:
Mesh>Scripts>Poly Reducer

4.
Define the poly reducing level.

5.
Reducing the poly count will surly take
a while and uses a lot of memory.
After blender finished the calculation you
can export the low mesh version of the terrain again.
