Hello there.

I'm rather new to PnPTC, currently trying to write an export plugin for DXStudio's (http://www.dxstudio.com) mesh format ("*.dxmesh").

Thanks to the good documentation of PnPTC and very structured examples and API (grats to the devs!), this is making good progress.

One thing I couldn't figure out, though. On initiating the export, the "select exporter plugin" list pops up, showing my plugin (please see the picture attached).
It is shown under "User defined exporters". I'd rather like to have it placed at "Mesh exporters", though.
Any idea how I could achieve that? Thanks a lot.

miko

Hello and welcome,

the list is currently hard coded in the main program. As I know the names of the PlugIns shipped with the main installation of PnPTC I can organize them in the exporter type categories as shown in the image. All names of PlugIns which are not part of the main installation are placed into the "user defined..." category.

Currently there is unfortunately no way for you to control where the PlugIn will be placed. I could add a further method to the exporter interface, with which the category can be chosen by the plugin.

Ah, I see. Thanks Ralf.

After thinking about it again, I reckon the current way does actually help users to separate "official" plugins from others (the latter may be buggy, crappy, whatever).
So, when/if introducing the method you mentioned, it would maybe be a good idea to add another way that "tags" official plugins...

Anyway, I think the "user defined exportes" section is OK for me 8)
